LINDISFARNE PRIZE - RUNNER UP

I am delighted to have received a special runner up award for the Lindisfarne Prize for Crime Fiction. My WIP Dog Leap Stairs was shortlisted in March and the winner (Robert Scragg) was announced at the beginning of May.

I was one of five shortlisted candidates and am honoured and amazed to have bene among them.

 LOVE ME TENDER - the latest DI Sterling crime novel from Lorraine Mace

Love Me Tender by Lorraine Mace is published by Headline Accent in paperback and eBook on 21^st January.

 

I've read all the Paolo Sterling books and this one doesn't disappoint.

As usual,, it's a mix of gritty crime, police procedure and Paolo's personal life.  

Promoted, against his wishes, to DCI, Paolo is faced with insubordination from a member of his team and disapprobation from his boss.

And if cracking a drugs ring, tracking down a murderer and finding a missing woman isn't enough, he also has worries about his daughter, out of touch in Africa, and a renewed relationship with his ex-wife to contend with.

This is a good solid story of detection and I certainly didn't guess the culprit before the end.

When Jezebel and Magdalena, a couple of whores of indeterminate sexuality, try to persuade her to host a sex party - 'not an orgy, that sounds so vulgar' - high class call girl, Passionaria, is none too keen. But when trumpeter Sal Pinksy puts her in touch with Kid McLean, a former child popstar, and Kid becomes her client, the party takes on a greater significance. 

Passionaria is a devotee of the pagan god Dionysos and the god needs a sacrifice periodically. Kid McLean - sexually abused as a child - needs to atone for what he believes are his sins.
